At Embrace Leadership International, we’re working hard to prevent man-made and natural conflicts and strengthen leaders’ proactive roles in regional peace and security. Our Peace and Security program was born out of our belief that local leaders can make a better world for the youth, their communities and future generations.
To promote peace and security in the hotspots and conflict dynamics in clashing areas requires a multi stakeholders’ involvement in addressing the challenges associated with conflicts in such regions.
Our Approach
Sustained Dialogue Spearheaded by Local Leaders and Elders
Local leaders and elders are crucial to achieving peace and security in societies. Embrace Leadership International facilitates inter-community dialogue spearheaded by local leaders and elders from conflicting communities. We provide the leaders with a platform for peace-building initiatives and tools to work towards an environment conducive to reconciliation and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
Local leaders and elders are engaged in a series of participatory dialogue sessions to reinforce community peace structures and strengthen their capacity to promote peace.
Sustained Dialogue Spearheaded by Women
Women are a central part of any society and have the power to hold a society together. Embrace Leadership International facilitates dialogue sessions for women in conflicting communities to allow them to interact and consolidate their voices regarding women’s role in conflict mitigation.
Youth Engagement Through Sports And Entertainment
Youths are the largest age group in Kenya and the most disproportionately affected by conflict as agents and victims.
Embrace Leadership International organizes various sports tournaments in conflicting regions to bring the youth together and provide a platform that encourages peace talks. The youths in most conflicting areas have inherited a useless war, and the majority have no idea why they’re fighting in the first place.
By bringing the youth together through a common activity, we give them an avenue to express their perspective on existing conflicts. Continuous interactions and participation in peace talks can change youths’ perceptions of each other. Additionally, our tournaments open up opportunities for the youths that enable them to harness their skills and talents to empower their communities. This way, they’re exposed to other forms of gaining wealth instead of fighting over the little resources available in their communities.
